Russell Kalvelage

I advise and represent businesses and management-side clients in employment law matters. I take a client service-driven approach, seeking to understand each client’s unique circumstances, perspectives, and business needs. My approach is practical and strategic, maximizing positive outcomes while minimizing expenses.

Employment law issues can be tricky. Compliance with ever-changing state and federal regulations is costly and requires careful attention to detail. Managing a workforce, maintaining personnel relations, and dealing with employment litigation is financially and emotionally burdensome. I aim to serve as a trusted guide and teammate, partnering with my clients in a wide variety of employment issues. My counseling practice includes advising clients on workplace policies, worker classification and pay, disabilities and pregnancy accommodations, protected leaves of absence, workplace- and employment-related agreements, including non-disclosure agreements and restrictive covenants, and employee evaluation, investigation, and disciplinary matters.

I also have experience litigating employment matters in various forums, including before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state fair employment practices agencies, in mediation and arbitration, and in state and federal court. I represent clients against allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and other claims. I have also litigated trade secrets and restrictive covenant disputes and breaches of contract.

When I’m not helping clients navigate tricky employment law issues, you can find me outside enjoying the Rocky Mountains by running, cycling, or skiing.
