Michael T. Gebhart

I approach the practice of employment law with a practical, service-oriented mindset. Employers need more than legal analysis in the abstract—they need clear, timely guidance that helps them solve problems, manage risk, and move forward with confidence. My goal is to provide advice that is not only legally sound, but also workable in the real world.

My practice focuses on representing and advising employers in all aspects of the employment relationship. I counsel clients on workplace issues including hiring, discipline, performance management, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, investigations, and terminations. I also represent employers in litigation, administrative proceedings, and pre-litigation disputes, with an emphasis on practical strategy, efficient resolution, and positioning clients for the best possible outcome.

I have spent more than two decades practicing law, including extensive experience in labor and employment matters. Over the course of my career, I have advised employers facing sensitive personnel issues, high-stakes claims, and complex workplace decisions requiring both sound legal judgment and thoughtful communication. I believe effective employment counsel requires more than identifying risk—it requires understanding how decisions will be perceived by employees, agencies, judges, and juries, and helping clients navigate those realities strategically.

In addition to my legal practice, I serve as a Professor at the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality at UNLV, where I teach courses in law, human resources, management, and related business subjects. That role strengthens my ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and reinforces my commitment to helping clients understand not only what the law requires, but how to apply it effectively in the workplace.

I place a high value on client relationships and work closely with employers to provide straightforward advice, sound strategy, and steady counsel in challenging situations.

When I am not practicing law or teaching, I enjoy outdoor activities, cooking, and spending time with family.
